Dust off your poodle skirts and slick back your hair! You're invited to the coolest blast from the past: the Merton Sock Hop! Join us for a fun-filled evening of music, dancing, and classic 50's fun.

There's no admission fee to get in, so bring the whole family and all your friends!

Food, Fun, and Games!

We'll have a classic 50's diner menu available for purchase, including hot dogs, burgers, chips, and sweet treats like candy and ice cream! Ticket sales & Food Pre-Orders CLOSE at 9PM on Thursday, February 12.

Contests & Dance Lessons: Test your flexibility in the Limbo Contest, and get your hands flying with lessons for the Hand Jive & The Twist!
6:00PM - Learn the Hand Jive (gym)
7:00PM - Participate in a Limbo Contest (gym)
7:30PM - Learn the Twist (gym)
Entertainment: Our amazing DJ will be spinning the best rock 'n' roll tunes all night long!
Craft Corner: Get creative and design your own official Merton Sock Hop button! We'll also have temporary tattoos to complete your retro look.
Capture the Memories: A Photographer will be on hand to snap photos of all the fun, so make sure to strike a pose!

Volunteer Opportunities

The Arrowhead High School National Honor Society (NHS) is graciously providing a great group of student volunteers, but we could still use your help to make this event a smash hit!

We need adult volunteers for:

Food Prep / Service
Setting up / Tearing Down
Running the Craft / Game Stations
Prepping for the Dance (decorations, ticket prep, etc.) in the days leading up to the event.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do parents need to stay?

A responsible adult must stay with your student(s). This is our "Sweetheart Dance" so your student is encouraged to bring someone (or multiple adults) who have a special meaning in their life.

What do I wear?

This one is up to you! Expect some people to go "all out" with 50's costumes or clothing inspired by the era. Others may prefer "fancy" clothes from their 2026 wardrobe. Still others will come in clothing they'd wear any day of the week. You choose what's comfortable for you.

Which students are invited?

This Sock Hop is for students in 4K - 4th Grade and their "Sweetheart(s)". That might be mom and dad, or grandma and grandpa, or some combination!

We have an Intermediate-Only Dance planned for 2/27 for Merton's 5th, 6th, 7th, & 8th Graders.

Do I need to order food in advance?

No, you do not need to order your food in advance. However, ordering your food in advance GUARANTEES that we will have your order for you. If you decide to wing it and come without pre-ordering, there is no guarantee we will have the food you want.

Pre-ordering helps us to minimize waste. It doesn't make sense for the Merton PTO to spend money and time preparing food that might not sell. It makes more sense for us to prepare food in quantities that's been pre-ordered. If you choose not to pre-order, please recognize supplies will be limited and when it's gone....it's gone!

We will have a limited supply of concession candy available as well!
