Every individual of our vibrant Merton PTO community adds a unique flavor to our dynamic mix. We're eagerly seeking enthusiastic volunteers to contribute their special talents and time.
Below are some of the many opportunities we currently have for you to get involved with supporting our students & staff.

Our amazing school staff works tirelessly to create a wonderful learning environment for our children. You can show your appreciation by helping them stock their classrooms! We've compiled an Amazon wishlist with items they've requested. Please consider purchasing an item or two to support their efforts.

Opportunities available: 1.5-hour Shifts
Comments: Volunteers will help load boxes of collected food at both the Primary and Intermediate schools into a van (meet at the Primary school), then assist in unloading the van at St. John's, which is across the street from Intermediate school.

Opportunities available: 2-hour Shift
Comments: Help keep an eye on the kids at Youth Night
Youth Night is a super fun and easy way to connect with other parents and simultaneously hang out with your kids and their friends.
All we ask is that parents keep an eye on the gym, the commons (crafts/games), the little theater and the outdoor playground (weather permitting). There is also an opportunity to assist with the concessions area where students can purchase snacks and drinks for $1.
Date: Culver's Nights, 3rd Wednesday of the Month
Opportunities available: 30-minute "shifts" starting at 5PM, ending at 8PM
Comments: We are looking for volunteer helpers to assist the incredible Culver's staff at the Merton PTO Culver's Night fundraiser.
Job may include delivering trays, cleaning up tables, and making sure the dining room is tidy.
Anyone is welcome to sign up: parents, kids, grandparents.

Comments: We are looking for volunteers who would like to help provide a delicious meal for their long day of teaching + Parent-Teacher Conferences.
This year, we're offering a Mac & Cheese bar!
Opportunities available: Book Fair Helpers
Please sign up for a shift (or two) at the Book Fair! Time flies because it's so fun. As a volunteer, your job entails:
Assisting students with selecting books as needed
Process transactions on the Book Fair-provided cash registers. This is super easy to learn; the Book Fair Lead has detailed instructions and you'll receive directions from the team you're relieving. The Book Fair can accept cash, credit, and gift cards via a scannable code.
Help tidy and make sure the Book Fair area is organized and replenished, when applicable.

Time: 10:45AM to 1:30PM
What: Vision Screening for 4K / 1st / 3rd Graders + those in 5K / 2nd / 4th whose parents request a screening.
5 people will be needed:
2 people help process paperwork / permission slips and to support the Lions Club member in making a brief notation about the student's vision screening (checking a box 'Pass' or 'Needs Additional Testing'). The Lion Club member will tell you what to do.
1 person to help corral the children while their class is proceeding through the Vision Screening line.
2 "runners" to run out to get the next class so we can keep the schedule moving.
We can sort out who does what on the day-of, and trade spots if we need to. If you can't make the full shift, please let us know.
The Vision Screening will be held in Conference Room in the in the Primary Library and will begin at 11AM. Please arrive at 10:45AM to help with setting up. We should be done no later than 1:30PM.
Help refuel our amazing Merton staff by keeping the lounges filled with goodies throughout the whole school year.
