This year, we are holding elections for the Merton PTO Executive Board. The available positions include President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. These roles have a two-year term, with the Treasurer’s position serving a three-year term (with the third year overlapping with a new treasurer for training).
All parents, teachers, or staff members of Merton Schools are eligible to be considered for these positions. Nominations may be submitted by others or self-nominations are welcome.
President: The President oversees all PTO activities, leads meetings, and ensures that the organization’s goals align with the needs of the school community. They also act as the primary liaison between the PTO and school administration.
Vice President: The Vice President assists the President in their duties and assumes the President's responsibilities when they are unavailable. They often take on special projects and help organize events.
Secretary: The Secretary maintains accurate records of all meetings, including minutes, and handles official correspondence for the PTO. They also keep the organization’s documents and records organized.
Treasurer: The Treasurer manages the PTO’s finances, including tracking income and expenses, preparing financial reports, and ensuring that all transactions are properly documented. This role also involves overseeing the budgeting process and coordinating financial planning.
The nomination and election process for the PTO Executive Board is as follows:

In addition to the Executive Board positions, there are many other opportunities to get involved at Merton Schools!
We welcome parents, teachers, and staff to serve as committee chairs, lead events and activities, or volunteer their time to assist with various events throughout the year. These positions do not require nominations or an election. We encourage individuals to raise their hand if they are interested, or the PTO Leadership Team may reach out to those with identified expertise or interest in specific areas to inquire if they're interested in taking on a larger role within the PTO.
Whether you have a specific skill to share or simply want to contribute your time, your involvement is valuable and helps make a difference in our school community.
