Primary School Recess Supervisors
Now through End of Year
We're looking for enthusiastic and watchful parents to help out at the Primary School for Recess Supervision.
Our children at Merton Primary are fantastic, but at times they need gentle reminders to be mindful of themselves and their classmates.
Shifts are in 25-minute blocks, please feel free to help out as much as you're available! "Priority Need" for the 10:30-10:55 and 1:00-1:30 timeslots
Recess Responsibilities Include:
Reminding children to keep their hands and feet to themselves.
Of course we want you to enjoy this time with your child, but keeping all childrens’ safety in mind, please circulate and keep an eye on all children.
Report injuries to a Staff Supervisor if first aid or a visit to the health room is needed
Help escort children to their assigned doors at the end of recess.
Kindergarten - Door L
1st Grade - Door K
2nd Grade - Door L
3rd Grade - Door D
4th Grade - Door D
If anything major happens, please report the incident to the Staff Supervisors and we will proceed accordingly.
Volunteering as a Recess Supervisor:
*If this is your first time volunteering in the Primary Building during the 2023-24 school year, please bring your driver’s license to the District Office window and Mrs. Peggy Wrobleski will enter your ID through our Raptor background check system. This process only has to be done once per year and only takes about 20 seconds.
***Parents must check in at the office each time they volunteer, and they will be given a visitor's badge & reflective vest.***
As cold weather approaches the classes may want help indoors with snow gear for younger kiddos. When you check in at the office to get your visitor's badge, they will let you know where you are needed that day!
You may then walk or drive to the back playground where other staff supervisors will also be outside. During inclement weather, you are welcome to join the children inside the building in their grade level wing to help monitor the classes if you wish.
