NEWSLETTER: 5/4/2025
Did you make it to the show? Maybe yes, maybe no.
Either way, please take a moment to complete our short survey. Your feedback plays a big role in shaping future PTO events and activities.
Every event takes time, energy, and often funding to pull off—and we want to focus on what truly matters to our Merton families. Help us make smarter plans by letting us know what works, what doesn’t, and what you’d love to see more of.
P.S. - we want to hear from the kids too, so "refresh" your browser once you've submitted to let them chime in, too!
Monday, May 5th starts our week-long celebration of our incredible Merton staff & teachers!
We have many fun things planned in the theme of "Thanks for helping us bloom!” and we could use some helpers to assist with set-up, distributing treats, decorating, cleaning up, and more.
We have jobs throughout the week available for both the Primary School and Intermediate School including:
- Water Bar (Monday)
- Room Service (Tuesday)
- Breakfast (Wednesday)
- Coffee Truck (Thursday)
- Make-Your-Own-Bouquet (Friday)
THANK YOU for showing your love for our staff!
We’re excited to invite all families to be a part of Staff Appreciation Week—a special time to recognize and celebrate the incredible teachers, support staff, and school leaders who make a difference every day.
Explore the ideas below to see how your family can help make this week truly unforgettable!
We hosted a Literati Book Fair April 22 - 24th at the Primary School.
Total sales for these three days (plus online sales) amounted to just under $9,000! WOW!
What this means for the Merton PTO:
Since the Literati Book Fair is a fundraiser, we will be receiving approx. $2,500 to put into our account! This money will be used toward future PTO-related projects.
You can see our Treasurer Reports here to see some ways we have spent money in the past.

5:00 to 7:00PM in the Primary Gym
The Merton Primary + Intermediate Math & Literacy Teams are planning an exciting evening at school called MATH + LITERACY NIGHT. This event will be free for all students and their families.
The teachers will be planning engaging games and activities with take-homes to provide our kiddos with some fun math + reading activities for the summer.
Also featured for the evening will be several food trucks! Come check it out!
Merton PTO is supporting this event by helping to coordinate & manage a Book Swap & we are looking for volunteer help!
Students & families may donate any of their gently-used, but no longer needed, books at the School Front Offices from April 28 through May 9. Volunteers will help to sort and discard any books that are too damaged to offer in the Swap.
Students visiting Math + Literacy Night will be invited to take a book (or more, depending on how many we collect!) to add to their personal summer reading library.
Books NOT claimed by students & families will be offered to Merton Teachers to help them fill out their classroom reading nooks.
Sign up to help with the sorting process or help at the Book Swap on 5/20.

Our Team is looking for a person (or team!) who'd like to take the lead on Fundraising effort for the Merton PTO.
There's opportunity for you to have part in deciding our key fundraising ventures. The Chairperson essentially functions as a "Supervisor" with "Project Managers" supporting in each of the individual fundraising efforts. In recent years, the Fundraising Team has coordinated:
Mum Sale (September)
Raise Craze (late September-mid-October)
Spring Fundraiser (this year was Comedy for a Cause, April)
Monthly restaurant nights (Culver's Nights)
Spirit Wear (historically offered late summer + in time for Christmas)
There's certainly opportunity to change what we've done and/or try new things! We are open to your enthusiasm and ideas!
Please reach out to us if you'd like to learn more or chat with any of our PTO leadership team.
Want to help at school? Take a look at these ways you can volunteer!
We're always adding new opportunities here, so please be sure to check it out!
